In my opinion, this trend is particularly troubling when foreign companies appropriate these symbols without understanding or respecting their cultural contexts. For example, Maasai patterns are now frequently used in fashion collections by designers who have little or no connection to the community. This not only devalues the cultural significance of these symbols but also exploits the Maasai community by profiting from their heritage without providing them with any benefit.
