In my opinion, while mining has the potential to contribute to Kenya’s economic development, its impact on the country’s ecosystems cannot be ignored. The environmental degradation, pollution, and health risks associated with mining highlight the urgent need for more sustainable practices. Kenya must prioritize environmental protection and work towards ensuring that mining activities are conducted responsibly. This includes enforcing stricter regulations, investing in green technologies, and fostering collaboration between the government, mining companies, and local communities. Only by balancing economic gains with environmental stewardship can Kenya truly achieve sustainable development.
